Privacy Policy - aicq

Last Updated: January 9, 2026

TL;DR

aicq does NOT collect, store, or transmit any of your data.

This extension runs entirely on your device and only monitors network activity to detect when AI chat responses complete. Your conversations remain private between you and the AI platforms you use.

1. What Data We Collect

None. Zero. Zilch.

aicq does NOT collect:

2. How aicq Works

aicq operates entirely on your local device:

  1. Network Request Monitoring: The extension uses Chrome's webRequest API to detect when AI platform API requests complete. This is a local operation—your chat content is never accessed.
  2. Content Script Injection: For displaying your question in notifications, aicq extracts text from the page DOM. This text stays on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.
  3. Local Storage: Your volume preference (off/soft/balanced/loud) is stored locally using Chrome's storage API. This syncs across your devices but is never sent to our servers.

3. Permissions & Why We Need Them

aicq requires the following permissions to function:

Permission Purpose
notifications To show desktop alerts when AI responses complete
offscreen To play the ICQ notification sound in the background
webRequest To monitor network activity and detect response completion
storage To save your volume preference across sessions
Host Permissions To inject content scripts and monitor API traffic on supported AI platforms

These permissions are used solely for the functionality described above. No data is collected, transmitted, or sold.

4. Third-Party Services

aicq does NOT use any third-party services, including:

The extension is self-contained and runs entirely offline.

5. Data Storage & Retention

What We Store

The only data aicq stores is your volume preference:

What We DON'T Store

Everything else. Your chat content, questions, responses, and browsing activity are never stored by aicq.

6. Data Sharing

We do not share your data because we do not have your data.

aicq does not sell, rent, or share any user information because no user information is collected.

7. Children's Privacy

aicq does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. Since we don't collect any data at all, this is not applicable.
